15 years of Albania in NATO, Minister Peleshi: Happy to be part of this area, appreciation for our representatives’ contribution

This year, Albania celebrates the 15th anniversary of its membership in the largest military alliance, NATO. From our diplomatic mission in Brussels, Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi expressed his appreciation for the contribution that our representatives have made and are making every day in this journey.

“We are fortunate to be part of the NATO area, this powerful military alliance. I would like to congratulate the daily work that our Representation does to convey the messages, the positions and to lobby for the national strategic interests here in NATO, in various committees, but also in the commands, not only in Brussels, but in the entire NATO space,” Minister Peleshi emphasized.

Blerim Caka, Defense Policy Advisor, said that they are in daily and close communication and cooperation with the 31 Allies and Partners for the implementation of NATO’s new Strategic Concept.
The Military Representative of the Republic of Albania in NATO, Brigadier General Ilir Pujo, says that the military is the voice and figure of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, which represents our country in various NATO forums, military committees, subcommittees, working groups and boards.

According to Colonel Leonard Kollçaku, the Deputy Military Representative of the Republic of Albania in NATO, “the primary task of the Military Staff is to prepare the best possible military advice for the decision-making authorities in Tirana and the North Atlantic Council, in accordance with our national interests as expressed in the strategic documents”.
Of particular importance, however, is the planning process, which, according to Defense Policy Advisor Ina Stratobërdha, is another important element that provides the link between the political component and the Alliance’s operational needs.

On this anniversary, Albania is counting a number of achievements in the field of security and defense. On March 4th, the NATO Tactical Air Base in Kuçovo, the Alliance’s only base in the region, was inaugurated, while the modernization of the armed forces continues at a rapid pace to meet the Alliance commitments.
